Copenhagen on a stopover: what to do, in minutes from the metro
The airport metro is 12–15 minutes and 30 kr to Kongens Nytorv; from there Nyhavn is 6 minutes on foot and Tivoli 19. Ten sights timed, with what each costs.
A Copenhagen stopover works because the airport is inside the city's metro. Line M2 runs from Terminal 3 to Kongens Nytorv in 12–15 minutes for a 30 kr three-zone ticket (m.dk, read 1 November 2026), every 2 to 3 minutes in the day. From Kongens Nytorv, Nyhavn is a 6-minute walk and Tivoli 19, computed below. Half a day sees the harbour, one tower and one museum; a full day adds Tivoli in the evening if it is in season.
The walking table
Routes on OpenStreetMap footpaths with the OSRM foot profile, from the Kongens Nytorv metro entrance, computed 1 November 2026, converted at 80 m per minute and rounded up. Prices and hours read on each venue's own page the same day.

| Glyptotek | 1,278 | 16 min | not read | check |

| The Little Mermaid | 1,993 | 25 min | open quay | free |
Tivoli's main entrance is also 379 m, a 5-minute walk, from Copenhagen Central Station, so on a train-based stopover it is the closest sight of all; Nyhavn is 2,199 m, 28 minutes, from the station.
The metro, read today
The M2 timetable page gives "Approximately every 2 minutes" in the 07–09 and 14–18 rush hours, about every 3 minutes at other daytime hours and weekends, about every 8 minutes on Friday and Saturday nights between 01 and 07, and about every 20 minutes on other nights. The 30 kr ticket covers the city centre and the airport, all metro lines, for 1 hour 30 minutes; 12–15-year-olds pay half. A 24-hour City Pass for zones 1–4, airport included, is 100 kr. The metro page put the run from the terminal to Kongens Nytorv or Nørreport at 12–15 minutes. Copenhagen Airport's own site returned HTTP 403 today, so its advice on how early to be back is a check item with your airline.
Tivoli
Tivoli's seasons page, read 1 November 2026, lists Halloween as 2 October to 1 November, Christmas as "November 13 - January 3", Easter 2027 as 19 to 29 March and the summer season as 30 March to 26 September 2027. The page lists no dates between those seasons. Daily hours showed only loading placeholders, and the ticket shop gave no prices to a reader today, so both are check items on tivoli.dk. The practical rule follows from the dates: a stopover from 2 to 12 November or from 4 January to 18 March 2027 falls between the listed seasons, so plan the day without it. See Copenhagen Tivoli.
Rundetaarn
The Round Tower is the best value per minute on the table: 11 minutes on foot, 60 DKK for adults, students 40 DKK with ID, under-18s free, not in the Copenhagen Card. In winter it opens 10–21 on Mondays and Tuesdays, when the observatory runs telescope evenings from 18:00 to 21:00 if the sky allows, and 10–18 on the other days; in summer it is 10–20 every day (rundetaarn.dk, read 1 November 2026).
How much light you get
Copenhagen at 55.68° N on 15 December 2026 has 7 h 04 min of sun, 08:33 to 15:37, and on 15 June 2027 it has 17 h 30 min, computed with the NOAA equations. A December stopover is a morning-to-mid-afternoon walking day with Tivoli's Christmas lights after dark; a June one leaves the evening for the harbour.
A half-day and a full-day shape
Half a day (about five hours door to door): metro in, Nyhavn, the palace island, Rundetaarn, a meal, metro out. Walking total about 3 km, under 40 minutes of it on foot by the table.
A full day: add the National Museum or the Glyptotek in the morning and Tivoli from late afternoon in season. The Copenhagen or Oslo stopover ledger spreads the same city over two days with a night, which is the version to choose if the onward flight is to Keflavík in the afternoon.
The Iceland, Faroes and Greenland link
Copenhagen is the hub for three of this site's routes. Icelandair and SAS fly Copenhagen–Keflavík, which is how the stopover ledger ends. The Faroes and Iceland ferry starts here, with a 480 km drive to Hirtshals for the Norröna. And Air Greenland's flights to Nuuk leave from here, which is the other way into the Greenland add-on. A Copenhagen day at either end of an Iceland trip costs nights and metro tickets, not a hire car; leave the car until Keflavík.
