Tivoli is the Copenhagen stopover's evening: a pleasure garden in the middle of the city, lit up, with rides for those who want them and restaurants for those who do not. Whether it is open on your date is the first question, because it closes between seasons. The operator's ticket calendar, read on 1 November 2026, gives Halloween ending 1 November and Christmas in Tivoli from 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, closed on 24 December. Adult entry costs DKK 150 to 275 depending on the date, or DKK 409 to 559 with the ride pass. It suits a stopover night with children or without; it does not suit a date in the gaps between seasons, when it is shut.

What the pages say: the 2026 seasons were Easter 30 March to 6 April, Summer 27 March to 20 September, Halloween 2 October to 1 November and Christmas 13 November to 3 January. At Christmas all rides are open, plus two children's rides of the season, and there are market stalls and a New Year's Eve fireworks evening. The shop prices by date and says to expect higher prices in peak season, holidays and on Fridays with Friday Rock concerts. Children under 3 enter free with a paying adult; under-ones may try rides without a pass with a paying person over 14. The shop sells before-18:00 and after-18:00 versions of both tickets.

The arithmetic

Two to five hours inside, an editorial planning figure for a walk, a meal and some rides rather than an operator figure. Tivoli is beside Copenhagen Central Station, so from a central hotel there is no drive; add the walk and a buffer and an evening visit costs 240 minutes. On the stopover journey (/journeys/copenhagen-or-oslo-stopover-2-days) it is the evening of day one, after the airport train.

The counted figure: the Christmas season is 52 calendar days, 51 of them open. The price spread is the other one. On the tiers in the shop data read today, the cheapest adult entry is DKK 150 and the dearest DKK 275; with the ride pass, DKK 409 and DKK 559. A family that only walks, eats and watches the lights pays the entry; the ride pass is for those who will ride all evening.

Against Iceland

Reykjavík has no garden of this kind; the city habit this site recommends instead is the public pool (/experiences/reykjavik-pool-morning), 1,500 ISK for an adult on that page. Tivoli is the reason to take the Copenhagen routing rather than a direct flight only if the stopover has an evening.

What goes wrong

The closed weeks, first: between Halloween and Christmas, and after 3 January until the spring opening, it is shut. The dated price, second: a Friday or a holiday costs more. The before-and-after-18:00 tickets, third: buy the one that matches when you arrive. Cold, fourth: a December evening on outdoor rides is a short stay.

Questions people ask

Is Tivoli open now?
Halloween in Tivoli ended on 1 November. The gardens reopen for Christmas on 13 November 2026 and stay open until 3 January 2027, closed on 24 December (shop calendar, read 1 November 2026). All rides run at Christmas, the operator says.
Entry only, or a ride pass?
Entry alone is DKK 150 to 275 for an adult, depending on the date; entry with the unlimited ride pass is DKK 409 to 559. Children under 3 enter free with a paying adult. For a walk among the lights and a meal, entry alone is enough.
Why does the price change by day?
The shop prices by date. Its calendar says to expect higher prices in peak season, in holiday periods and on Fridays with Friday Rock concerts. Pick the date in the shop and the figure appears.
Is a Copenhagen stopover worth it on the way to Iceland?
For one evening, yes, if the flight times allow it. The stopover journey on this site gives the airport-to-centre leg; Tivoli is beside the central station, so it fits the evening of day one with no car.
