Vágar is the only airport in the Faroes, and it is on the wrong island for most itineraries: Tórshavn, the ferry, the fuel and the beds are on Streymoy, reached through the Vágatunnilin. The tunnel is free in that direction; tunnil.fo charges the toll only when you drive back out towards the airport (50 kr. one-way for a car without a subscription, 10 kr. with one). Leave that one toll in the ledger for departure day.

The drive time to Tórshavn is the one number this page does not give. The airport's own "to and from" page could not be opened today, and the tourist-board page says only that the tunnel connects the airport to Streymoy. Strandfaraskip Landsins lists bus 300, Tórshavn – Vágar Airport – Sørvágur, and its timetable at ssl.fo is the benchmark for how long the road actually takes with stops; a car in normal conditions is faster. Until fae.fo is checked, plan with the bus time and treat anything shorter as a bonus.

Arrivals are simple: one hall, hire desks inside, bus outside, a short road east to the tunnel. Departures are where the planning matters. The runway sits between fjord and hill and fog diversions happen; do not book the Norröna or a connecting flight for the same day as a Vágar departure in autumn or winter, and give yourself a buffer night in Tórshavn.

Gásadalur and the Mykines boat at Sørvágur are both west of the terminal, so they belong on arrival or departure day, not on a return trip from Streymoy. Parking is paid at the machine in the terminal; the tariff is not published anywhere reachable today.
