Reykholt (Biskupstungur)

Reykholt in Biskupstungur is the greenhouse hamlet on road 35, the southern road into the Golden Circle, and the place where the Friðheimar tomato greenhouses serve lunch among the plants. It is not the Reykholt of Snorri Sturluson, which is in Borgarfjörður in the West; check the postcode (806 Selfoss) when you put it into a navigation app.
It sits on the return leg of most Golden Circle loops: Gullfoss to Kerið direct is about 48 minutes, and via Friðheimar about 49 (OSRM on OpenStreetMap), so lunch here costs almost nothing in driving. The Drumbó river base for Hvítá rafting at Drumboddsstaðir is about 16 minutes' drive from Geysir.
Read today on fridheimar.is: the kitchen is open every day from 11:30 to 16:00, the shop and bar from 9:00 to 17:00, and a separate wine bar in an older greenhouse from 12:00 to 22:00. The tomato soup with bread from the buffet is 3,740 ISK, and the menu says its prices are valid for 2026.
