Svolvær is Lofoten's working town and the harbour most boat trips into the Raftsundet and the Trollfjord leave from, which is why it matters to a route that sleeps further west at Reine. By road the two are 121 km apart on the E10, about 130 minutes each way by OSRM on OpenStreetMap in normal conditions, so a Svolvær boat from a Reine bed is a full day, and a night in Svolvær turns it into a morning.
Timing: two hours for the harbour and the town; a night if you are taking a boat. The light swings hard here. At Svolvær's coordinates the NOAA equations give no sunrise on 15 December and a sun that does not set on 1 July (computed), which decides whether an afternoon trip is a daylight trip.
The boat operators meet near the main square; Lofoten Explorer's Trollfjord RIB asks for arrival 30 minutes before departure. The seller pages read today disagree on the adult fare (NOK 1,095 on svinoya.no, NOK 1,195 on lofoten-explorer.no) and on the length (about 1.5 hours against 2), so read the booking page itself.
Practical line: fuel and supermarkets in town, the last large ones before the drive west to Reine. The E10 through the islands is part of the Lofoten scenic route, which the Reine stop records as open all year.
