Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon, Hvammsvík: the detour on each ledger

None of the three showed an adult price in its page text on 1 November 2026. The detours from Keflavík and Reykjavík are computed for the 7-, 10- and 5-day ledgers.

The honest answer on 1 November 2026 is that this site cannot tell you what the Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon or Hvammsvík costs. bluelagoon.com returned HTTP 403 on its homepage and on its prices path; skylagoon.com and its packages page delivered a title and a loading image and nothing else, because the page body is built by script; hvammsvik.com shows a price only after a time slot is chosen in its booking block. What this site can tell you is what each one costs in road, on each ledger, because that is computed from the map and not from the operator. The grid below is OSRM over OpenStreetMap, computed on the day, with the ledger's own legs as the baseline. When you have the price from the operator's page, divide it by two for the ISK-per-hour figure the hot-springs post uses for the other seven baths, and the comparison is complete.

The grid

Figures are the extra km and minutes a lagoon adds to the ledger leg it sits on, or the return trip where it is an out-and-back from the night's bed.

7-day Ring Road10-day with Snæfellsnes5-day South Coast and Golden Circle
Blue Lagoon (Grindavík)Day 1 or Day 7: +21.5 km, +23 min on the airport legDay 10: +21.5 km, +23 min (it is a listed stop)Day 1 or Day 5: +21.5 km, +23 min
Sky Lagoon (Kópavogur)Day 7: +4.8 km, +13 min on the airport legDay 9 or 10: 17.1 km, 28 min return from the centreDays 1–2: 17.1 km, 28 min return from the centre
Hvammsvík (Hvalfjörður)Day 7: +44 km, +44 min on Borgarnes–ReykjavíkDay 9: +44 km, +44 min on Borgarnes–ReykjavíkDay 1: about +56 km; otherwise 111.5 km, 114 min return from the centre

The baselines: Keflavík to Harpa is 52.0 km and 51 minutes; by the Blue Lagoon it is 73.5 km and 74 minutes; by Sky Lagoon 56.8 km and 64 minutes. Borgarnes to Harpa is 76.4 km and 74 minutes; by Hvammsvík, leaving Route 1 before the Hvalfjörður tunnel and rejoining it after the fjord, 120.4 km and 118 minutes. Hvammsvík from Reykjavík as a return trip is 111.5 km, which matches the operator's own "55–56 km" each way. All at OSRM's default speeds, which are a little faster than the ledgers' 80 km/h, so round up.

What the detours mean

The Blue Lagoon is a transfer-day lagoon. It costs 23 minutes of road on the way in or out and nothing on any other day, which is why the 10-day ledger lists it on Day 10 and the others mention it in a note. The Blue Lagoon experience page on this site puts the whole visit, soak and booking buffer included, at 230 minutes when taken from a Reykjavík base and at about the two hours of the soak when taken on the airport road. The operator's booking system allocates time slots, and arrival outside the slot is the risk on a late flight.

Sky Lagoon is a city lagoon. From Harpa it is 17 km return, a bus or a short drive, and on the 5-day ledger's two Reykjavík nights it fits either evening without touching the ledger. On the 7-day loop it only fits Day 7, between Borgarnes and the airport, and adds 13 minutes to the road. It was not checked by this site's experience pages either, so it remains the one capital-area bath with no first-party note at all.

Hvammsvík is the one that costs a real piece of a day. On the two Ring Road ledgers it is 44 km and 44 minutes added to the last or second-to-last day, both of which already carry the car return and the city. On the 5-day ledger it is a half-day out and back from Reykjavík, 114 minutes of driving before the soak, and the only way to make it cheap is to land early and go straight there from the airport: Keflavík to Hvammsvík is 98 km by OSRM, against 52 to the city, so the airport-day version costs about 56 km (the two legs added, 98 plus the 55.7 back to town, less the direct 52). The operator says guests may stay as long as they like after entry, with last entry at 19:00 in winter and 20:30 in summer, which makes it the one lagoon where the per-hour arithmetic is in your hands.

The failures, dated

For the record, because the point of this site is that figures carry dates: on 1 November 2026, bluelagoon.com answered 403 Forbidden to a plain page request on its homepage, its English homepage and its prices path (the same result the Blue Lagoon experience page recorded earlier the same day); skylagoon.com and skylagoon.com/packages returned a page with the title "Tickets, Packages & Prices | Sky Lagoon" and no content; hvammsvik.com's FAQ said "everyone over the minimum age of 10 pays the same fee" and gave no number. A booking engine that prices by slot has no single number to print; it does mean that any page quoting a Blue Lagoon price today is quoting a booking screen or memory. The capital's municipal pools, by contrast, published their list: 1,500 ISK adult, in force since 5 May 2026 on reykjavik.is, read the same day. That is the number to hold the lagoons against once you have theirs.
