Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a timing stop, not a route stop: it sits between Keflavík Airport and Reykjavík, about twenty minutes from the terminal, which is why it is usually booked for the first or last hours of a trip, straight off the plane or on the way to it. Luggage storage exists for exactly that reason. It is the most expensive bathing on the island and the only one that needs a timed booking.

The practical line: admission is dynamic, varying by date and time slot, and must be booked in advance; the operator's price pages were not reachable today, so no figure is stated here and the band is "high" on the basis that its entry-level ticket costs several times a municipal pool. Check bluelagoon.com for the slot you want. There is a café and a restaurant; toilets and showers inside; no fuel at the site, and Grindavík's status depends on the volcanic situation, so fill at Reykjanesbær or in Reykjavík.

Timing: two hours in the water is the usual stay, four with lunch. Quietest in the first morning slots and the last evening ones.

Safety is the volcano. The lagoon lies in the Svartsengi area that has erupted repeatedly since 2023, and it has closed and evacuated several times; safetravel.is keeps a Reykjanes eruption page with the current status, and the road 43 approach can be shut. Check it before you drive, and keep the airport transfer plan flexible.

Neutral mention: this is one of several lagoons on the route; the municipal pools in Reykjanesbær and Reykjavík are the cheap alternative.
